AIWAV October Meeting 2024

The October event for AIWAV this year was held on Murano with glass bead lamp worker Monica Cavaletto, @duchessa60 on instagram. The event was made challenging by an epic Venetian Lagoon storm but Monica's shop and studio were very cosy and there was room to put our wet coats out of the way!
Monica gave a history of lamp working on Murano - a uniquely female activity - and demonstrated how to make a glass bead using rods of coloured glass before those in attendance all got to make their own bead. Whilst waiting for the beads to cool, there was a generous aperativo from nearby Trattoria Busa all Torre, better known as Lele's.
